Mrs. Emily Manwill Passes Away - Funeral Services
Payson, April 4. - Mrs. Emily S. Manwill passed away at her home in Payson Sunday evening last at 5:45 of Pneumonia, which she contracted only last Wednesday.
Deceased was born April 16, 1837, in Jacksonville, Davies (sic) county, Mo. She was the daughter of Samuel David Brown and Lydia Marie Brown. Her father was a member of the Nauvoo Legion. She started with her parents to Utah in 1852. Her mother died of cholera on the plains, having her and four younger brothers with her father to continue the journey to Salt Lake, where they arrived the same year. Here the family made their home. She there met and married John F. Manwill and later they removed to Payson, where the remainder of her days have been spent.
Twelve children were born to them, nine of whom survive her. She is grandmother of 40 and great grandmother of 3. She has been a faithful laborer in Sunday school and Relief society a great many years, having taught in Sunday school for 25 years.
